Meet the Dixon Staff 2013: Carolyn Fly
1. What’s your job title?
2. Favorite Dixon exhibition so far?
Present Tense was here when I first started working at the Dixon. The Memphis art scene is thriving and Present Tense really exhibited that (literally!). It provoked a conversation in the community and whether people were fans or critics, they were talking about Memphis art. That’s all that matters.
3. Favorite plant/flower in the gardens?
Daffodils! Did you know there are 13 divisions of daffodils and that the Dixon has them all?
4. Favorite Memphis restaurant?
The Half Shell on Mendenhall a.k.a “my home away from home”. May I recommend the oysters rockefeller with a side of the king crab bisque?
5. Tigers or Grizzlies?
Let me just put it like this, I was sporting Grizz gear back when turquoise was a team color and the games were in the pyramid.
6. What’s something people might be surprised to know about you?
I have a black belt in karate. But don’t try anything folks, I’m retired.
